A picture is worth a thousand words Take some time out and go to one of the area photography showings. Take a look around and when you see something that really catches your eye find out who the photographer is. It might be Nancy Fitch Oudheusden, Stittville, New York. In August, 2003, Nancy just returned from Africa. Yes, that's right, she spent 2 weeks in Botswana on a photo safari of a lifetime. Check back for up-close photos of elephants, and of lions feasting on a fresh kill. Nancy will be available for slide shows of Africa and other subjects. Please contact her to schedule one today! In the Spring, Nancy finished a month long exhibition of a collection of 30 of her photos at the New Hartford Public Library . Among these are several prize winners from numerous New York State competitions, including the New York State Fair. Nancy began her interest in photography when she was 16 and a high school student in Okinawa, Japan. She had been hospitalized for TB and was unable to participate in school sports during her recovery period. Her Dad decided it would be a good idea to give her his Nikon to keep her busy and she's been snapping pictures ever since. She was a member of the Sioux City (Iowa) Camera Club for 12 years while she was teaching there. One of her favorite activities at that time was taking pictures of the young children she taught and then giving them the photos as Christmas presents. After she came to Rome, New York and began teaching at RFA and eventually Staley, she joined the Utica Camera Club, where she served as vice president, and the Rome Photo Club. Nancy has take several photography courses in the area at Mohawk Valley Community College. One of her specialized talents is Polaroid Transfers, which she teaches in workshops at the local Camera Clubs. Copyright 2003 Viewfind Photo |
